This post will show you how to install Windows operating system version 7, 8/8.1 and windows 10 successfully.

Before you start thinking about installing a new Windows in your PC, there are a few things you need and they are;

  1. Your desire version of Windows operating system (Windows 7, 8/8.1, and or 10) disk. You will need this if you have a working DVD/CD drive: If your DVD/CD drive doesn’t work or you are using a mini laptop, then you can create a bootable USB flash drive and use it for the installation.
  2. Product Key: you will need this in order to activate the Windows.
  3. Make sure your battery is fully charged or plug in your charger.

once all these are ready, let’s start with the basics.

Below are the steps:

Step One: Reboot Your System

if your system is switched on, reboot it then press F2, esc, del, F9 to go to the boot menu or any key combination for your system type because the combination key to get to the boot menu varies depending on the system you are using. You can refer to your computer manual and check for the appropriate key or search online for the key combination.

Step Two: Choose DVD/CD drive or Bootable USB flash drive

if you are using OS disk, then choose DVD/CD as your first boot. But if you are using Bootable USB flash drive then select the drive then reboot the PC. When the system restarts, you will see a message at the top with “Press any key to boot from the CD drive”; click any key immediately and the Windows will start loading the files.

Step Three: Start Installing Windows

When the Windows finish loading, you will see a screen where you can choose your preferred language then click NEXT. In the next Window, click INSTALL NOW then wait for the next screen. In the next screen, you will see Windows terms and conditions. Read it then check the box to agree to the terms and condition and click NEXT.

Step Four: Select the bit and partition

Up next is where you select the desired bit. I will advice you select 32bit as that can work in any system perfectly. But if for some reasons, you prefer the 64bit, then select it and the version of Operating system you want. Or maybe you bought a single version disk then there is no need for this. For Windows 7, you may see Windows Home, Premium, Professional, Enterprise, Ultimate and so on. Just select the one you want then then click NEXT.

You will be asked whether you want to Upgrade or Install New Windows (Custom); choose custom move on.

Step Five: Time to Install Windows operating system

Now that all the settings are in place, you may see more than one hard drive partition in the screen. If you want to format everything and install a new Windows, then click on any partition then click Drivers(Advanced) at the bottom right just below the partitions then click delete to delete the partition; do this for all the disk partitions (if they are more than one). Click Next when you are through.

When you are through, just have a cup of coffee while you wait for the Windows to copy all the required files to your Hard drive. This may take time depending on the speed of your PC. Exercise patience and wait. The system will reboot several times and asked you to press any key to boot from the CD, just ignore it.

Step Six: Fill some basic information

After the Windows has finished copying your files to the hard drive, it may restart several times before getting to a point where you write your PC name and set a password for the PC. Follow the on-screen instruction to complete your installation.
